Bear here ... testing, testing

Hey Cove,

Thanks for cc'ing me on the email to Dan. I wasn't sure how to post either. So ... copyrighting the songs ... yes, you can do that through the Library of Congress as long as the piece hasn't already been copyright, which, in teh case of the single, they were. Can't remember the publisher -- maybe Mercury itself -- on "Going Home" and "Skipping" but who ever it is owns the copyright twice times 28 years -- or maybe longer. I think the laws may have changed. Actually, I'm not an author on those tunes. It was Chas, David, and Danny. Chas is sole author of "Colors" as I recall. Can't remember how the rest went, but I'm pretty sure David wrote much of the music. This can get complicated. I was talking to Muff when she was at my house last weekend and we talked about the importance of getting a good entertainment lawyer you can trust. That's a hard call. At any rate, the reunion still sounds great. I'm down for that, regardless of anything else.

David: great to hear your "voice" on the blog. By the way, I think I have that photo you were asking about, of all of us walking abreast in Central Park. I'll look for it and if I find it I'll scan it and send it to Cove to post on the site.

Nova Express indeed!

Love to all,

Steve

Shanok Here

Very weird ... almost 30 years later and most of us are still alive. Who woulda' thunk it!

"Danny" died many years ago and he's an older Dan now. Every time I think about answering one of these emails, or blogging on, I get an empty feeling inside.

But systematic desensitization seems to be working. So, here I is.

I hadn't even thought of Ho-Ti in years, until Cove put those words in an email. All gone, now. But not Forever Gone.

I'm in Jersey.

The dog died. The kids are all moved out.

I'm riding to the west coast in July. I think Arizona (or N.M.?) is a little off the route. And I'm not doing any desert riding in the summer.

But now that the wonders of GatesWorld have opened these old doors, who knows?

Saw Starger last summer ... (or was it two summers ago?) when I visited Gandelman in Conn.

Okay... the whole things too spooky for me. But I'll be back

Looking for Bob Devos

Looking for Bob Devos on the internet, I kept running into "Bob Devos" famous jazz guitarist from New Jersey. So I called that Bob Devos and he said he wasn't NGC's drummer and he hadn't heard of another musician with the same name as his. Does anyone know where Bob studied music? Any biographical information about him? Age? Any family history? From where?

MY COMPUTER BLEW UP!
My eight and a half year old Mac went toast the other day. I may have lost some emails or addresses but I'm up and running on a new eMac and moving forward on the NGC 4594 copyrights and CD.

Hey Cove,

Muchas gracias for the CD. It's like some bizarre Rosetta stone from the past. I keep telling Polly that our youths and young adulthoods are like archeological digs now. We belong in dioramas at natural history museums!

I'd LOVE to see the movies you have, if you could arrange that. Keep me posted on what's happening. I'm checking the blog site regularly too.

Love,

I’m looking through my video’s for a copy of the Marshmallow movie to dupe. I’m also checking to see if my nephew Caleb has made a digital copy of the movie that I’m calling “the world first music video.” I’ll get copies to everybody as soon as I can? Jack tells me he thinks Danny has some home movie of that time. Does anybody have any pictures or home movie from the time of the Tribe? What about the famous NGC 4594 sex movie from Coventry Lake?

I have a couple of chopped up copies of the “Floating Opera”, the so-called poetry magazine we sort of took over and some black and white 16 mm film of David, Buzzy, Billy Thurstan (?) and my crew-cut self.

Question of thge day...Where is Hoopsie?
