History
1965/66 Cove supported band and managed while they were gaining momentum. They went to NYC and recorded a 45 with Smash Records, a division of Mercury records. The song "Goin' Home" on B side and “Skipping through the Night” on the A side. There was a small fan club in the Midwest for a while. Gluck and Allen, a PR firm, had a brief contract with them and got the band a few gigs in NYC, and had the publicity photo taken of them in the tree. Cove's 30 minute, 16mm movie made in 1966 called "Marshmallow" has some band members (as well as original clicks of the Beatles) in it and would work as a music video.
Then the band fell apart.

There are 12 tracks on the audition tapes. One of them, “It’s Called Love” was not transferred to the CD we re-mastered.
The third tape we have has some jam sessions and raw jams on it. Danny Has another reel-to-reel tape from that period.

NGC 4594: The Band

Subject: NGC 4594 and tribe

Hey Bear, Long Time no see. This is Cove writing. I'm still in Santa Fe, New Mexico but I'll be in Connecticut April 28 thru May 9 . . The reason I contacting you is to give you a link to check out.

and to tell you I did digital minor remaster of the NGC 4594 tapes on to CD. I will send you a copy if you send me your address. I would like to issued it commerically. I have some photos and some film as well as the "marshmellow movie" from that time. I would like to do a web story or site and I sorta dream of a tribe or band "reunion." I have some Chas stuff on tape and I thought I had some Muffy and Chas music that I can't find for moment. I also have to detail each of the NGC songs; writer, title, copyrights, ect. NGC is on a couple of "psychedellic" compilations. anyway my Nephew Caleb is doing a little arty documentary call "My Hippies" and I would think he needs permission to use the music. I know with a little promotion a release of authenic, recently uncovered,
psyhedellic "The Band That Almost Made It" will work because people who heard it now, like it.
Email me back and tell what you think. Love Cove

P.S. I tried to email this a couple of weeks ago and I'm now trying again. In the mean time I launched 2 blogs

Hey Cove,

You really blew my mind yesterday. "Is this Bear?" Nobody's called to ask that in decades! Well, yes it is, I guess. You really are a maniac -- an NGC revival with new recordings? Well, yeah, OK, I'm in. Call me silly, but what the hell. I can't believe what that band and that group of wild folks did to all of us in such a relatively short period of time! Muffy (aka Annie Addington) called me a few hours after you to tell me she'd just talked to you and I said so did I. I didn't get that you want to do a reunion on the shoreline in September. I thought you meant a New York reunion with recording etc. September would be great. Muff is psyched for it and so am I. We had a great time with Jack when he was here a couple of years ago. Remember Bill Gould? He and his wife came down too. You've probably seen the film Jack shot of us on the beach. This never stops, does it??

So ... I'd really love to get a copy of the "marshmallow" film, as well as any stuff you shot re NGC in New York. Do you really have film of  Danny spray painting the top of that building on 23rd St?? That's precious beyond measure.

This all sounds really crazy after all these years, you gotta know that, but that's just a phenomenon of us growing a little older I think, plus the incredible impact that period had on us. If refuses to go away. That has to tell you something -- just what, I'm not sure!

So, the universe turns and comes around to us again. Great balls of fire! See you in September, I hope. Let me know how the new NGC project is progressing, at least in your febril imagination.

"There is no you or me."

NGC 4594: The 60’s Band that should have made it.

I found the tapes in my garage attic. I knew they were there. The music is authentic and fresh even 40 years later. The kid digitalizing the music for me thought it was cool with weird harmonies.

For lack of a better description, the 60’s psychedelic rock band NGC 4594 was born of a group of Connecticut hippies. They just called themselves…“The Tribe.”

I started to think of all the names of tribe associate people from the time.

Tribers, as they might be called now, included (in no order except I’m always stone when I think about them): Buddy, Buzzy, Jack, Earlene, Suzy, Hoopie , Steve, Ellen, Nancy, …I will continue this list and email people with the password for this site. Anybody can access the site and make comments. But the password will allow people to post right on the site. I hope Bear will write the liner notes for the NGC 4594's first CD.
.
Anyway I’ll post again tomorrow and hope people email me with ways of contacting NGC 4594 band members or Tribers.
